Spaghetti-laced hot dogs: your new food sensation

The web has long been a haven for the creators of bizarre and occasionally disturbing culinary creations. From the coronary-baiting concoctions collected by This Is Why Your're Fat (example: the Double Bacon Hamburger Fatty Melt) to bizarre food sculptures, it seems like all avenues of weird cookery must have been explored.

Praise, then, must go to the denizens of a Russian LiveJournal (warning: one mildly NSFW image on there), who have been cataloguing a hot new trend in food preparation - threading spaghetti through hot dogs, to create a series of fun, slightly nightmarish sausage/squid things that look like something you'd get if Delia Smith and H.P. Lovecraft got drunk together.

The technique to what they describe as 'a new form of food art' is simple and obvious enough - thread the spaghetti through the frankfurter while it's still dry and hard, then boil the lot to create your many-tentacled meat prongs.

But the creativity and dedication shown in cooking up new forms of the fronded sausage things is undeniably impressive, as the pictures show the meals (which they've named the 'hot dog strikes back') turning from looking like a collection of sea urchins to resembling tasty octopuses.
